Texas Hold 'Em, Fold 'Em & Spread

I've never played poker. Everything I learned about poker I learned from the Kenny Rogers sone. However, I've never held them, folded them, walked away or run. but I know how to spread 'em. A spread is the same thing as a fan. Right? Any kid who's ever played Old Maid knows how to do that. Isn't it interesting how we learn how to cheat, bet, bluff and shark before first grade? So when does card playing become sinful? It was in my grandmother's Methodist household. I just forget at which age playing cards became taboo. There were too many don'ts in my life.

Yes, I'm not supposed to be here, but I took a break last night, and one thing led to another. Before I could help myself I was making more postcards. I printed six and went to town! I woke to a short stack of writ, addressed, dated, stamped and postaged postcards. Why does Spell Check insist on telling me what I want to say when I don't want it to? I couldn't use stamped twice, since in this instance, it meant using an inked stamp to add an image to the back of my card. So, postaged saves me from being redundant. Notice how I saved my cards from being redundant? The same image has three separate fonts! For real.

I meant to mail these from our cluster, but I get tired of chasing down the mail truck. Mother Goose & Grimm's Grimmy comes to mind every time I think of having to do it. There's always tomorrow.

As soon as I schlep all the way to Office Depot for ink, I have plans to print more. I could use your help though. Will you vote for your favorite font? I'd appreciate it more than you can imagine, since I like all three.

BTW. The photo is a reflection of just how hot it is here. How hot is it? Why, it's so hot, we can't even put the water trough back in the pasture yet. We're still tubbin' and swimmin' here! So, Happy October One, y'all! Okay. Happy October Two!

  3. The top font, the simplest, is my favorite for this photo. However, the bottom one runs a fairly close second. That leaves the middle one as my least favorite. Overall, the font is fine except for the "T" which, in my opinion, doesn't go with the rest of the letters.

  5. Happy October Limner!

Since you asked, personally, I like the third (bottom) font the best. You didn't ask us to justify why we voted for the particular font but here's my explanation why (because I find it hard simply to vote for something without providing context):

I feel the first font is too long/wide -- the "Te" in Texas encroaching on the red pump throws the overall balance off for me, and there's lots of white space between each letter (so, the kerning seems off to my eye). I also like that the other two fonts have the wording only over the aluminum tub. Additionally, I think the capital T's in the script font of the 2nd postcard font seems off to me, aesthetically. Finally, I like the outlining feel of the third font. (And I hear you on the spell check issue!)

    Take care! ~ Angela

    1. I'm sorry, Angela. "Why" is always implied with me, but shame on me for not doing my duty as a good hostess. You know what "they" say about me assuming things, right? ;)

Oh! Hey, my girl! :) Wow. You sound like a graphic designer. Very good. Thanks!
